Who Needs a UK Visa from Qatar?

Whether you are a Qatari national, a Pakistani expat working in Doha, or any other resident of Qatar — if you hold a non-British passport, you almost certainly need a UK visa before travelling. The UK does not offer visa-on-arrival to most nationalities, and the application is entirely online through the official UKVI (UK Visas and Immigration) system.

Qatari Nationals

Qatar is not on the UK's visa-free list. All Qatari passport holders must apply for a Standard Visitor Visa or the appropriate UK visa before arrival.

South Asian Expats

Pakistani, Indian, Bangladeshi, and Sri Lankan nationals living and working in Qatar must apply through the Qatar route. Your employer documents and Qatar ID are key supporting evidence.

Business Travellers

Travelling to the UK for meetings, conferences, or business development? You still need a Standard Visitor Visa unless you hold a British or EU passport.

UK Visa Categories We Handle

Every visa type has its own rules, documentation, and financial thresholds. We have specialist teams for each category.

Standard Visitor (Tourist)

For holidays, family visits, medical treatment, or short-term business meetings. Granted for up to 6 months per visit, typically valid for 2-10 years.

Student Visa (Tier 4)

For university, college, or long-term language courses. Requires a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) letter from a licensed UK institution.

Standard Visitor (Tourist)

Moving to the UK for a skilled job. Requires a Certificate of Sponsorship from a licensed UK employer. Points-based system with salary thresholds.

Family Visa (Spouse )

Join a UK-settled spouse, partner, or parent. Sponsor must meet the minimum income threshold of £29,000/year (as of 2024). Long-term route to settlement.

Business Visitor

For attending meetings, conferences, training, or business negotiations. You cannot be employed by or provide services to a UK company on this visa.

Transit Visa (Direct Airside)

If you're transiting through a UK airport without passing through UK border control. Required for many nationalities even for a short layover.

Financial Evidence

How Much Money Do You Need to Show?

Financial requirements are the most misunderstood part of UK visa applications. The answer is different for every visa type. Get it wrong and your application is refused.

Tourist / Visitor Visa
  1. No fixed minimum — the ECO judges proportionally based on trip length and itinerary
  2. Generally, show funds covering flights + hotel + daily expenses + buffer
  3. 3–6 months bank statements showing consistent income and savings
  4. Salary certificates and NOC from Qatar employer are critical
  5. Funds can come from personal savings, salary, or a sponsor in the UK
Student Visa
  • Must show £1,334/month for study in London, or £1,023/month outside London
  • Funds must be held for a consecutive 28-day period ending within 31 days of applying
  • Official bank statements (not printouts) required — must show the bank name and your name
  • If your parents are funding you, a sponsor declaration and their financial proof is needed
  • Course fees for Year 1 must also be shown if not yet paid
Skilled Worker Visa
  • No personal savings requirement if your employer provides a Certificate of Sponsorship
  • Salary must meet the relevant SOC code threshold (minimum £26,200 or role specific)
  • If you are bringing dependants, you must show personal savings of at least £1,270
  • Financial evidence of £285 per month per dependant (for the first month)
  • Sponsor verifies financial requirements via the Certificate of Sponsorship
Family Visa (Spouse / Partner)
  • UK sponsor must earn at least £29,000/year (threshold increased in 2024)
  • If income is under threshold, personal savings of £16,000 or more can supplement it
  • Savings must be held for at least 6 months before application
  • Financial evidence: payslips, employment letters, P60, or bank statements
  • Self-employed sponsors need 2 years of business accounts or tax returns
